Donation & Refund Policy

1. Donation Nature

All contributions to Mahad Darul Marif are considered charitable donations. By donating, you acknowledge that your gift is made with the understanding that Mahad Darul Marif has complete discretion and control over the use of all donated funds, consistent with our exempt purposes under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.

2. Restricted vs. Unrestricted Donations

Restricted donations (such as those designated to the Property Fund) will be used solely for that purpose. If the designated purpose becomes impossible or impractical to fulfill, the Board of Directors may redirect the funds to a closely related purpose, in accordance with nonprofit law and donor intent.

Unrestricted donations provide the greatest flexibility and may be used wherever the need is greatest, including programs, operations, and capital needs.

3. Tax-Deductibility

Mahad Darul Marif is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization. Donations are tax-deductible to the fullest extent permitted by law. Donors will receive a receipt via email for contributions of $250 or more, or upon request. Please consult your tax advisor for specific guidance.

4. Refund Requests

We understand that errors or changes of heart can occur. Refund requests will be considered under the following conditions:

• Request is made within 30 days of the donation date
• The donation was made in error (duplicate charge, wrong amount)
• The donation was unauthorized or fraudulent

Refunds for donations made more than 30 days ago, or for donations that have already been deployed to programs or the property fund, may not be possible. Each request is reviewed on a case-by-case basis by the Board of Directors.

5. How to Request a Refund

To request a refund, please email info@mahaddarulmarif.org with the following information:

• Donor name and email address used for the donation
• Date and amount of the donation
• Reason for the refund request
• Transaction reference number (if available)

We aim to respond to all refund requests within 7 business days. Approved refunds will be processed to the original payment method within 14 business days.

6. Recurring Donations

If you have set up a recurring donation and wish to cancel or modify it, contact us at info@mahaddarulmarif.org. Cancellations should be requested at least 5 business days before the next scheduled charge.

7. Non-Cash Donations

In-kind donations (equipment, supplies, property) are accepted at the discretion of the Board. Non-cash donations are generally non-refundable. A donation receipt will be provided for tax purposes based on a good-faith estimate of fair market value; donors are responsible for obtaining independent appraisals for items valued over $5,000.
